The position is required to manage primary healthcare cases, provide occupational health care services as well as manage injury on duty cases.
Job description

Primary Health Care, Occupational Health Care and Injury on Duty Case Management
  • Evaluate, refer, and manage patients attending the clinic including injury on duty cases
  • Follow up on all off-site referrals done by the on-site clinic
  • Monitor patient recovery and progress
  • Document, file, and capture patient reports as per statutory and company requirements
  • Liaise with relevant authorities pertaining to injury on duty cases and occupational health illness cases and reporting thereof
  • Manage stock levels and order stock as may be required
  • Perform vaccinations as may be required
  • Provide health education to employees and contractors attending the clinic on disease prevention and adaptation to health problems
  • Take part in daily handover meetings and department meetings as may be required
  • Book and schedule occupational health care medicals as may be required
  • Communicate and work with site management, human resource and occupational medical practitioners to manage fit for work cases
  • Attend to suspected COVID-19 cases as per the company policy and department procedure
  • Create DPR’s (Direct Purchase Requisition) for clinic invoices/accounts due for payment. This will be for occupational health invoices, order of clinic stock and disposables, medical expense invoices, injury on duty referral invoices, and other invoices related to the department.
 
Inspections and checks
  • Perform daily checks on clinic equipment and the site ambulance
  • Clean and sterilize clinic equipment daily
  • Change and clean beddings and beds as may be required
  • Disinfect, sterilize, and autoclave equipment and clinic items as may be required
  • Manage and ensure bio-hazardous and medical waste is incinerated as required and the necessary documentation and records is always maintained and in place
  • Report any damaged clinic equipment
  • Ensure clinic equipment is serviced and calibrated
 
Health, Safety and Environmental
  • Ensure compliance to all B2Gold Safety, Health and Environmental policies and procedures
  • Maintain a safe working environment and keeping the assigned work area clean and tidy
  • Complete site and area specific inductions inclusive of Core Safety Modules

Minimum requirements

  • Grade 12
  • Minimum Diploma in Nursing and Midwifery Science with Legal Registration as a Registered Nurse (NQF Level 6) OR a Degree in Emergency Medical Care and registered as an Advanced Life Support Paramedic (NQF Level 7)
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience as a registered healthcare professional
  • Good administration skills 
  • Registration with the Health Profession’s Council of Namibia
  • Valid Code B driver’s license
  • Up to date Continuous Professional Development plan is an added advantage
