Job description
Human Resources Services
- Analyse, update work force plans and requirements in area of responsibility by comparing complements and strength and advise line management of discrepancies
- Conduct regular site visits and advise line managers on HR related problems and appropriate corrective action to be taken.
- Advice line managers on HR related challenges and appropriate corrective action to be taken
- Assist line management to implement and maintain a work force plan to meet the needs of the departments
- Facilitate and coordinate induction sessions
- Facilitate the engagement and placement processes of new employees/recruits
- Identify areas of high labour turnover and the causes thereof and inform the HR Superintendent and HR Manager
- Assist the Line Manager in identifying training needs
- Support and manage various HR projects as directed by the HR Superintendent and HR Manager and in line with HR objectives
- Identify and propose the improvement of processes/systems that will contribute to the effective operation of HR as a service provider
Recruitment and Selection
- Ensure HR policies are applied consistently across the mine and area of operation
- Efficiently facilitate the recruitment and selection processes
- Update job descriptions as needed
- Draft internal and external advertisements to the required quality and standards
- Conduct preliminary shortlisting of candidates for job interviews
- Verify, confirm and establish validity of references and qualifications submitted
Administration
- Update HR documents on site (e.g. medical aid, acting appointments etc.) and submit to payroll for processing
- Provide monthly HR related reports to the relevant HOD, HR Superintendent and HR Manager
- Ensure quality probation reviews are done on time and submitted to the Payroll Office
- Conduct quarterly onboarding and retention interviews.
- Conduct monthly exit interviews
- Coordinate medical screenings (pre-employment and exit)
- Ensure that employee information is kept confidential and accessible when needed
Employee Relations
- Facilitate the implementation and maintenance of the Code of Conduct Policy to achieve its objectives
- Coordinate and present training on Code of Conduct Policy to facilitate the understanding and competencies required for achieving implementation the disciplinary process
- Monitor shop floor relations and advise Site HR Superintendent on appropriate interventions to improve workplace climate
- Guide line management on disciplinary processes and provide timely advice on relevant practices, systems and tools to ensure sound employee/employer relations
- Assist in conducting disciplinary investigations, hearings, appeals and grievances
- Advise and assist employees in resolving grievances through supervisory staff at the lowest level possible, in accordance with Company Policy and Procedure
- Communicate all disciplinary cases to the ER Specialist to load onto SAGE system
Health, Safety and Environmental.
- Ensure compliance to all B2Gold Safety, Health and Environmental policies and procedures
- Maintain a safe working environment, and keeping the assigned work area clean and tidy
- Complete site and area specific inductions
- Complete Core Safety training modules
Minimum requirements
- Grade 12
- Minimum Diploma in Human Resources Management or Behavioral Science (NQF Level 6)
- Minimum 5 years working experience as an HR Generalist
- Valid Code B driver’s license
- Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources Management or Behavioral Science will be an advantage
