Introduction
The Heavy Mining Equipment (HME) Maintenance Superintendent is responsible for managing maintenance and relevant infrastructure to ensure optimal availability and performance of resources.
Job description
- Determine, review and amend equipment maintenance schedules to optimize reliability
- Review equipment performance reports and implement corrective actions when required
- Review major component change out intervals and align with original equipment manufacturer recommendations
- Plan and coordinate major repairs/overhauls of machinery
- Ensure compliance with warranty agreements
- Ensure technical post-mortems on component failures and implement preventative actions
- Implement, monitor and maintain condition monitoring and tyre management programs
- Monitor and evaluate spares holding and ensure sufficient consumable and critical spares
- Prepare and manage approved capital and working cost budgets
- Evaluate and determine staff requirements and deployment
- Ensure compliance to all B2Gold Safety, Health and Environmental policies and procedures
- Actively participate in the implementation and improvement of occupational Health, Safety and Environment (OHSE) Management System.
Minimum requirements
- Minimum National N6 Diploma with GCC (Government Certificate of Competence) OR a Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering (NQF Level 8)
- Minimum 10 years working experience in HME opencast mining environment of which 5 years in a management capacity
- Excellent technical knowledge, networking and experienced on CAT earthmoving and auxiliary equipment
- Valid code B or BE drivers Licence
- Registration with relevant engineering council will be an advantage
- The successful candidate must be a dynamic individual with self-drive, discipline and motivation with a strong endeavour to do work properly the first time in a safe manner
