To assist the Metallurgical Manager with the management of the processing plant and technical metallurgical support services to achieve optimal availability, utilization and performance of resources.
Job description

Productive Effectiveness
  • Draw up monthly operational plans, in accordance with annual production plan requirements
  • Monitor progress and analyse causes of production delays and deviations and direct relevant staff on corrective actions
  • Co-ordinate interfaces with other departments to optimize production performance
  • Compile daily/monthly production reports, ensuring a high degree of accuracy
  • Report to the Metallurgical Manager on all aspects of plant performance and safety
  • Provide operational team with means to achieve the production targets

Budget Management
  • Monitor and approve expenditure against working cost budgets, within approved parameters
  • Analyse and review monthly working costs and recommend adjustments to operational plans to achieve yearly targets
  • Provide regular cost reports to the Metallurgical Manager
 
Process and Quality Improvement
  • Evaluate and approve implementation of modifications and improvements to plant
  • Revise the operational procedure regularly in order to maintain optimal performance standards
  • Analyse and evaluate plant performance and technical reports
  • Implement appropriate action to improve and maintain process efficiency and quality standards

Staff Management
  • Review performance of staff and provide positive feedback and guide rectifying behaviour, as necessary
  • In addition to Performance Management reviews, regularly discuss work plans and assess progress reports
  • Assist each staff member in compiling a Personal Development Plan [PDP] and ensure on the job coaching or other appropriate training interventions
  • Ensure on-going and effective communication with staff
  • Implement all relevant HR policies and procedures
  • Attend any specialized training courses related to duties – subject to Policy & Procedure

Safety, Health and Environment
  • Ensure compliance to all B2Gold Safety, Health and Environmental policies and procedures

Minimum requirements

  • Minimum B degree Chemical or Metallurgical Engineering or Extractive Metallurgy (NQF level 7)
  • Minimum 10 years’ experience in the processing or metallurgical environment, with 5 years in a supervisory/managerial role
  • Valid Code B Driver’s License
