Introduction
The role of this position is to allow the incumbent to gain post qualification experience by assisting qualified artisans, with the maintenance and repairs on mobile equipment to ensure equipment reliability.
(Scope of work area: Mining, Loading, Auxiliary, Heavy Duty, Rebuilds, Workshops).
Job description
Preventative and scheduled maintenance
- Perform planned and unplanned work on Heavy Mining Equipment (HME) and Auxiliary fleets
- Perform daily inspections
- Identify parts and submit to the Foreman for approval and ordering
- Report to the Supervisor and relevant foreman on work progress
- Complete pre-use checklists before operating any mobile equipment
Housekeeping and general admin duties
- Ensure personal tools are available, in good condition and adequate in quantity and categories
- Ensure all special tools and equipment used during the shift is cleaned and returned to the tool store by the end of the shift
- Promote safety awareness in allocation of all tasks
- Complete risk assessments on all day-to-day maintenance activities and help to complete the tasks safely and effectively
- Ensure Tag out/Lockout procedure is applied
- Identify and communicate possible hazards and risks
- Participate in all required meetings, including safety meetings
Health, Safety and Environment
- Ensure compliance to all B2Gold Safety, Health and Environmental policies and procedures
- Maintain a safe working environment and keep the assigned work area clean and tidy
- Report all unsafe acts and conditions as well as injuries, accidents, equipment damage and near miss incidents to the supervisor in a timely manner
Minimum requirements
- Namibian Citizen
- Minimum National N3 Certificate / Grade 12 with 4 relevant technical subjects
- Trade Certificate - Earthmoving Diesel Mechanic or Diesel Mechanic not older than 18 months
- Valid Code B Driver’s License
- Code C Driver’s License will be an advantage
- No prior formal working experience required
