The Professional driver is responsible for providing safe and timely Company transportation while maintaining a professional image and ensuring that the vehicle is always well-maintained and compliant with legislation.
Job description

Duties and Responsibilities
 
  • Undertake various trips and transportation of employees and visitors between Windhoek, Otjiwarongo, Otavi and the Mine Site.
  • Operate the vehicle within the designated speed limit while travelling on private and national roads.
  • Ensure safety and caution while driving according to prevailing conditions.
  • Be mindful of hazardous conditions which may cause danger.
  • The Professional Driver must ensure that all vehicles to which s/he has access are maintained and kept in good repair.  This includes ensuring vehicles have the appropriate spares, current license discs and tyres are set at the correct pressures, and are always clean and appropriately fuelled.
  • The Professional Driver must ensure that safety & emergency medical supplies/rations are always available in the vehicle.
  • Be readily available to attend relevant trainings.
  • Act as an ambassador of the company by representing it professionally and courteously.
  • Maintain communication with Supervisor.
 
Safety, Health and Environment
 
  • Compliance with the B2Gold Golden Rules, Code of Conduct and all Policies.
  • Ensure compliance with all B2Gold Safety, Health and Environmental policies and procedures.
  • Maintain a safe working environment and keep the assigned work area clean and tidy.
  • Report all unsafe acts and conditions, injuries, accidents, equipment damage and near-miss incidents to the supervisor promptly.
  • Develop and implement good housekeeping principles and practices.

Minimum requirements

  • Minimum Grade 10 (NQF 2)
  • Minimum valid Code C1 driver’s License
  • Valid Public Driving Permit
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience as a driver
  • Ability to communicate clearly and write in the official language
  • Intermediate knowledge of cell phone usage and its technological software applications
