Introduction
The Graduate Metallurgist is responsible for assisting and supporting metallurgical activities under the guidance of Plant Metallurgists.
Job description
Metallurgical Technical Services
- Assist the Plant Shift Supervisor with daily plant operations.
- Assist in optimising plant reagent usage.
- Execute metallurgical laboratory project test work.
- Assist in optimising process plant and processing parameters.
- Provide support with all daily and special sample collections.
- Ensure full traceability of all samples.
- Ascertain that sampling equipment and points are operational per set standard operating procedure.
Safety, Health and Environment
- Ensure compliance with all B2Gold Safety, Health and Environmental policies and procedures.
- Comply with the Namibian Mining Act (Labour Act, Ordinance, Minerals Act, and Explosives Act) and Regulation clauses applicable to the work area.
- Actively participate in safety and/or toolbox meetings and conduct a monthly safety inspection of the work area based on the schedule set by Management.
Minimum requirements
- Minimum Advanced Diploma in Mineral Processing or Metallurgical Engineering (NQF 6)
- Degree in B.Eng. / BSc Chemical Engineering will be an advantage (NQF 7)
- Valid Code B driver’s licence will be an advantage
