Introduction
The Trainer will develop, deliver, and sustain competency-based training across key mining disciplines and ensure employees and learners gain essential technical and operational skills and competencies through effective, multi-disciplinary instruction and practical application.
Job description

Training Program Development & Implementation
  • Develop and deliver structured training programs to increase employee competence and operational efficiency, ensuring alignment with relevant standards.
  • Continuously review and update training materials to meet organisational and industry standards, including best practice.
  • Train, coach, mentor and test employees to the required levels of competence.
  • Facilitate the certification process by issuing certificates of competency where applicable.
  • Ensure that all employees are proficient in operating equipment safely and effectively.
  • Collaborate with team leaders, superintendents, managers and the Training Team in terms of training needs analysis and/or validation of SOPs for training purposes.
  • Develop training schedules and source relevant accredited, specialist service providers/trainers, where applicable.
Training Administration
  • Continuously identify and report training needs/ discrepancies between actual and anticipated skill levels.
  • Develop training schedules and source relevant accredited, specialist service providers/trainers, where applicable.
  • Ensure that delivered training and other training activities are recorded in C-Safe and as per required HR reporting requirements.
  • Report monthly on skills matrix and adherence to training plans.
  • Develop training plans for employees and evaluate and document the development of the employees and trainees.
Safety Management 
  • Promote safety awareness and behaviour-based safety initiatives.
  • Assist with the coordination of investigations and participate in accident/incident investigations.
  • Monitor and enforce compliance with safe work procedures and PPE requirements.
  • Maintain legal registers, permits and statutory records.
Safety, Health and Environment 
  • Comply with the B2Gold Golden Rules, Code of Conduct and all Policies.
  • Ensure compliance with all B2Gold Safety, Health and Environmental policies and procedures.
  • Actively participate in safety and/or toolbox meetings and conduct a monthly safety inspection of work area based on the schedule set by Management.
  • Maintain a safe working environment, and keep the assigned work area clean and tidy.
  • Report all unsafe acts and conditions as well as injuries, accidents, equipment damage and near-miss incidents to the supervisor timeously.

Minimum requirements

  • Grade 12 (NQF Level 4).
  • A recognised technical certificate or trade qualification in a relevant field.
  • A recognised qualification in Occupationally Directed Education, Training and Development (NQF Level 5) or equivalent will be an added advantage.
  • Diploma in Training and Development, Organisational Development or an equivalent qualification will be an added advantage.
  • Certified Trainer/Assessor and Moderator.
  • A recognised qualification in Occupational Health and Safety, Mining Safety or related discipline will be an added advantage.
  • Minimum 4 - 5 years’ experience as a Skills Facilitator/Technical Trainer in the Mining Industry and plant operations.
  • Broad knowledge/experience across a variety of processing plant disciplines.
  • Knowledge of engineering disciplines will be an added advantage.
  • Experience in conducting generic processing site-specific induction and plant-specific sectional training.
  • Experience in designing and delivering technical training programmes.
  • A Valid Code B driver’s license.
