Introduction
The Graduate Chemist will assist in developing, directing, and coordinating the quality assurance/quality control program at the B2Gold Otjikoto laboratory.
Job description

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Maintain historical quality records, perform laboratory quality control tests, and ensure compliance with procedures.
  • Train employees in analytical methods, techniques, and standard laboratory procedures.
  • Manage and resolve complex customer complaints while assisting laboratory staff.
  • Perform calculations, prepare reports, and enter test results into the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS).
  • Prepare chemical solutions, test samples such as bullion and geological materials, and conduct specialised analyses.
  • Support the chemist team by acting in their absence, providing technical support, and assisting in the development of QA/QC procedures, new methods, and control charts.
Safety, Health and Environment 
  • Ensure compliance with all B2Gold Safety, Health and Environmental policies and procedures.
  • Comply with the Namibian Mining Act (Labour Act, Ordinance, Minerals Act, and Explosives Act) and Regulation clauses applicable to the work area.
  • Actively participate in safety and/or toolbox meetings and conduct a monthly safety inspection of the work area based on the schedule set by Management.

Minimum requirements

  • Minimum National Diploma in Analytical Chemistry (or equivalent qualification, NQF 6)
  • A BSc in Chemistry will be an advantage
  • A valid Code B driver’s licence will be an advantage
