Introduction
Boilermaker Graduates will be engaged on a fixed-term, project-based assignment within B2Gold Otjikoto Mine’s Maintenance Services to support the execution of specific project activities. The role will provide hands-on exposure and practical experience, enabling the incumbent to apply and further develop technical skills relevant to Boilermaker functions within a project environment.
Job description

  • Assist with boilermaker duties on chutes, pipes, tanks, launders, etc.
  • Assist with Fabrication and install steel liner plates, pipes, chutes, etc.
  • Assist with the development of templates for steel pipe fabrication.
  • Assist with installation of piping systems (steel and HDPE), including fabrication, fitting, and alignment.
  • Support crusher and screen installation projects, including structural assembly and component fitting.
  • Participate in the installation of chutes, tanks, launders, and related process equipment as part of the project scope.
  • Assist with transportation, rigging, and positioning of mechanical components on-site.
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings to fabricate and install structures according to specifications.
  • Support plastics welding (HDPE) activities for piping installations.
  • Read drawings and fabricate steel structures according to the drawings.
  • Ensure availability and preparation of materials and fabricated components ahead of installation activities.
  • Use initiative to suggest modifications to drawings and equipment to improve equipment functionality
Safety, Health and Environment  
  • Comply with the B2Gold Golden Rules, Code of Conduct and all Policies.
  • Ensure compliance with all B2Gold Safety, Health and Environmental policies and procedures.
  • Actively participate in safety and/or toolbox meetings and conduct a monthly safety inspection of the work area based on the schedule set by Management.
  • Maintain a safe working environment and keep the assigned work area clean and tidy.
  • Report all unsafe acts and conditions as well as injuries, accidents, equipment damage and near-miss incidents to the supervisor timeously.

Minimum requirements

  • Minimum Grade 12 (NQF Level 4) / N3 with 4 relevant technical subjects and a Trade Diploma – Boilermaker (NQF Level 6), not older than 18 months from date of qualification.
  • No previous work experience is required
  • A Valid Code B driver’s license
