Introduction
The Fitter and Turner is responsible for performing day-to-day maintenance on equipment and related infrastructure at the Otjikoto Mine.
Job description

Duties and Responsibilities 
  • Execute overhaul, repair, installation, and maintenance of mechanical equipment and components.
  • Inspect operational equipment [pumps, belts, pulleys, rollers, mills, gearboxes, compressors etc.) for signs of wear and tear and other malfunctions.
  • Carry out scheduled services.
  • Provide accurate service information for completion of maintenance records.
  • Compile accurate spare part list, monitor spare part stock and identify parts required for ordering spares to repair defects.
  • Prepare risk assessments on tasks that need to be performed.
  • Promote safety awareness in the execution of all tasks.
  • Use safe Operating Procedures for executing work.
  • Ensure all special tools and equipment used during the shift are cleaned and returned to the tool store by the end of the shift.
Health, Safety and Environmental
  • Compliance with the B2Gold Golden Rules, Code of Conduct and all Policies
  • Ensure compliance with all B2Gold Safety, Health and Environmental policies and procedures.
  • Comply with the Namibian Mining Act (Labour Act, Ordinance, Minerals Act, Explosives Act) and Regulations clauses that apply to your work area.
  • Actively participate in safety and/or toolbox meetings and conduct a monthly safety inspection of the work area.
  • Maintain a safe working environment and keep the assigned work area clean and tidy.

Minimum requirements

  • Minimum Grade 12 / N3 with 4 relevant technical subjects & Trade Diploma in Fitting & Turning.
  • Minimum 3 years industry specific maintenance and refurbishment experience on plant equipment.
  • Valid Code B driver’s license.
  • Code CE Driver’s license will be an advantage.
  • Willing to work overtime, shifts and standby duties.
