The Health and Wellness Intern will provide administrative and operational support to the Health and Wellness Office while gaining practical workplace experience in employee wellness, occupational health awareness, counselling support, and wellness programme coordination in accordance with the B2GOLD Namibia Wellness program
Job description

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Assist with planning and coordinating wellness campaigns, events, and awareness activities.
  • Support health promotion initiatives, including HIV/AIDS, TB, and mosquito-borne disease awareness programmes.
  • Promote voluntary counselling and testing, treatment support, and referrals.
  • Help prepare presentations and educational material.
  • Assist with Occupational Health administration.
  • Maintain and distribute meeting invites, record accurate meeting minutes, and follow up on action items.
  • File health and wellness-related documents systematically and maintain employee occupational health and wellness records.
  • Support the preparation of reports, compilation of statistics, wellness surveys, and data collection.
  • Assist in directing employees to appropriate wellness services and support counselling, scheduling, and referrals.
  • Assist in performing peer educator training for volunteer employees.
  • Attend Wellness Coordination meetings and training events.
  • Encourage participation in Health Assessments and healthy lifestyle initiatives.
  • Observe and gain exposure to the implementation and monitoring of health and wellness programmes under supervision.
 
Health, Safety and Environment
 
  • Comply with the B2Gold Golden Rules, Code of Conduct and all Policies
  • Ensure compliance with all B2Gold Safety, Health and Environmental policies and procedures.
  • Actively participate in safety and/or toolbox meetings and conduct a monthly safety inspection of the work area based on the schedule set by Management.
  • Maintain a safe working environment, and keep the assigned work area clean and tidy.
  • Report all unsafe acts and conditions as well as injuries, accidents, equipment damage and near-miss incidents to the supervisor timeously.

Minimum requirements

  • Minimum Grade 12 (NQF Level 4)
  • Bachelor's Degree in Public Health, Industrial Psychology, Social Work, Human Resources Management, Social Sciences, Human Sciences or related field (NQF 7)
  • Computer Literacy (MS Office)
  • No prior experience required
  • A valid Code B driver’s license will be an added advantage.
