Introduction
The Engineering Draughtsperson is responsible for providing conceptual layouts, general arrangements, as-built drawings, and detailed technical drawings in accordance with ISO standards and client project specifications, as well as coordinating various disciplines related to multidisciplinary engineering projects.
Job description
Duties and Responsibilities
- Liaise with the Engineer, Clients, and Engineering Manager to obtain clear project specifications.
- Support the Engineering Manager and clients with drawings from concept through to project handover.
- Prepare detailed CAD and SolidWorks drawings for fabrication and on-site work.
- Liaise with internal and external manufacturers to ensure accurate specifications and detailing.
- Conduct site measurements and coordinate with survey personnel to ensure accurate plotting and drawing coordination for site works.
- Conduct intermediate site inspections to verify construction against approved plans and update drawings where changes have been made.
- Maintain and continuously update all existing infrastructure as-built drawings and ensure current revisions are readily available in DXF format for operational and engineering use.
- Capture and document internal infrastructure layouts, including mechanical, electrical, piping, and structural arrangements, to support digital twin models for site infrastructure and facilities.
- Perform field engineering work as assigned by the supervisor.
- Compile and update Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs), Pipe and Instrument Diagrams (P&IDs), and Electrical Single Line Diagrams (SLDs), as required.
- Oversee and coordinate project drawing activities from concept to commissioning.
- Maintain and manage the Technical Library, drawing register, and document control systems.
- Ensure proper storage, revision control, and accessibility of engineering drawings and manuals.
- Provide Bill of Materials (BOM) information for equipment captured in the Pragma maintenance system.

- Ensure compliance with all B2Gold Safety, Health and Environmental policies and procedures.
- Actively participate in safety and/or toolbox meetings and conduct a monthly safety inspection of the work area based on the schedule set by Management.
- Maintain a safe working environment and keep the assigned work area clean and tidy.
- Report all unsafe acts and conditions as well as injuries, accidents, equipment damage and near-miss incidents to the supervisor timeously.
Minimum requirements
- Minimum Grade 12 (NQF Level 4)
- N4 with four (4) relevant technical subjects and a Trade Diploma in a Mechanical discipline.
- NQF Level 5 recognised Trade Certificate / Diploma will be an added advantage
- Minimum of three (3) years’ experience working as a Draughtsperson
- Minimum of two (2) years’ drawing experience within the mining sector
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or similar design software/tools
- Experience in general arrangement drawings, parts drawings, orthographic drawings, isometric drawings, sectioning, and 3D drawings, including parts and material listing/detailing
- Experience in project execution and/or project involvement will be an added advantage
- A Valid Code B driver’s license
